Book Review for The Greatest Rock and Roll Band You Never Heard Of: Hit The Ground Runnin'

The Greatest Rock and Roll Band You Never Heard Of: Hit The Ground Runnin' is a book about a band that should have...could have...would have...and still might...make it big.  Author and band manager Marcus Mason has spent years compiling all the facts, details and urban myths surrounding Hit The Ground Runnin'.  Mason's efforts do not disappoint.  This book is a must-have for fans of music biographies and is highly recommended.

The story is all here; from humble beginnings in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, to recording their first EP ("Wam! Bam! Body Slam!"/"Rock and Roll and Wrestling Connection") under the name Free Delivery, to appearing on television's Dance Party USA, to not securing a major record label contract via losing a coin flip, to having a song considered for inclusion in the Rocky V soundtrack, etc.  Readers will see that Hit The Ground Runnin' was always on the cusp of mainstream social consciousness.

The band's story is intriguing, entertaining and heart-breaking, all at once.  Marcus Mason's attention to detail in The Greatest Rock and Roll Band You Never Heard Of: Hit The Ground Runnin' has given readers an exemplary historical document of a band that has continued to try to make it to the top of the dog-eat-dog world of popular music.  After reading Mason's book, you too, will realize that, with a little luck, Hit The Ground Runnin' might just achieve their ultimate goal.
